September 18 – Queen Mary, Lectures and Activities

A day at sea with eating and shows/activities and more eating and working on our photos.

Mary went to see a presentation on Oscar Hammerstein II.  It was a very interesting presentation with various facts and pictures presented and then woven in with his songs.  Lyrics went up on the screen and everyone sang along with the music.

The Queen Mary has the only planetarium on the seven seas so we went to one of the planetarium shows.  The planetarium is on one of the show venues.  During the shows the dome looks like a round dome in the ceiling with lights.  During the planetarium shows the entire dome drops and tips for viewing and the seats in the center portion of the theater can be reclined for viewing.  It was a great presentation.

We also went to a lecture on “Looking for life, exploring the solar system”, presented by a professor at the University of Leeds (UK) and a member of the Royal Astronomical Society.  Excellent lecture and lecturer.

In between we frantically worked on pictures.  We are so far behind.  But we are making progress.

Time for some photos of the ship.  This is the main dining room where we ate (there is an exclusive dining room for those who spend a whole lot more on a stateroom than we did).

In the evening we went to the show, “Broadway Rocks”, put on by the Queen Mary entertainment ensemble.  It was very good and very energetic.
