We had a quiet day today, mostly working on photos. However, we did attend a lecture on how they
discovered gravity waves and a rather humorous lecture on a double agent during
WWII, Agent Zig Zag (Eddie Chapman).
The one memorable note today was when watching the channel with the
position of the ship we noticed that the ship had made a right turn and was
headed straight for Newfoundland, not on our itinerary. Mid-day the captain came on and announced
that the ship was being met by a medical helicopter from Canada to airlift a
passenger off of the ship. Shortly after
the helicopter arrived, the patient was airlifted off and we made another turn and were back on our way.
We’ve had a couple of detours on this trip, a diversion south to miss
stormy seas and now this medical emergency.
We await further word as to when we arrive in NYC.
At dinner they did a grand procession of the senior kitchen staff through the restaurant so that we could all show our appreciation for their culinary arts.
We skipped the evening entertainment, worked on more photos and went to bed relatively early. So far we have gone through 3 time changes on this voyage with another due tonight. It is hard to keep up with whatever time it is so we have taken to keeping the position channel of the TV on. Shows us were we are and also the time.
